Hi all,
I took my son down to the Idaho National and had a great time, but I haven't made a gathering since. I'm thinking of taking my kids (5 & 8) down this year, but having seen some footage on the Pepper Spraying of Kiddie Village(!) last year, I'm kinda nervous about the prospects.
I would really appreciate some feedback from forks who have been to more current Rainbow Gatherings.
Thanks,
Crow
Hey Mama,
We took our baby last year and were in Kiddie Village at the time of the "incident" . I ran to hide him in the tent and away from the craziness and stayed there until it died down. That was the only negative experience of the entire time we were there. We never even saw another LEO over the next couple of days. We are taking him again this year. The Kiddie parade on the 4th is amazing and overall the positive that comes from the gathering far outweighs the negative. I would never take my son anywhere I didn't feel he was safe and I do feel comfortable having him there. Hope that may help with your decisions.
Much love to ya~
Hey Sun,
Since you were there, what exactly happened? I've been trying to figure out why on earth Rangers would target kiddie village, of all places? What is LEO?
Hi Golden Crow, I just wanted to encourage you and your family to continue to attend the gatherings...the pepper spray incident in kiddie village had allot of contributing factors that caused it to escalate to that level. We can always hope that family will respond with love and non-violence and also hope that police officers will always do the right thing to protect the people...we're all at fault, we're human. what we learn from such incidents is how to respond in a better way if ever we are confronted with opposition again. Certainly an "attack" on Kid village is not the norm. There are incidents in the past which came to a peaceful resolve, I can only hope that we can perpetuate the strength it takes to uphold our values as non-violent people.
